Getting customers to try your product is probably one of the most difficult and yet important tasks that you as a company have. You feel in your product 100%. You are pleased with it and will stand by it to the end.
You know that in your heart of minds that if you can just get customers to try your product one time, that a solid majority will come back and make a repeat purchase. You know that they all Free movies no ads will not like it, however, you do believe that a solid number will, and it is getting that trial purchase that is so important.
So how do you do it? There are programs that are available to offer a low cost motivation to customers who make the first trial. You pay for, and not at retail, but at wholesale, pre pay movie tickets, music download certificates, pizzas certificates that you share with customers when they try your product for the first time. It is called gift with purchase.
How does it work? Well depending on your industry you can either give the customer their certificate at that moment with a purchase or you can have them mail it in, and they're going to receive their certificate via the mail or in some cases the certificates are delivered in electronic format. In any case the certificates are branded with your company's logo and not some commonly used prepaid card that will not promote your business.
Sounds expensive? Well it is not. These certificates can be be on a wholesale basis partly because the companies that get these like the movie theatres are willing to give discounts to people who buy in bulk but also they know that there is a"breakage" model involved as well. What is "breakage"?
For example, you get a cell phone and there is a $50 mail in discount which attracts to you that phone. Well the cell phone manufacturer knows that a great percentage of the people will buy the phone and get excited about the discount and will not take the steps to complete the offer. So a good percentage will not get, but it was there and they would have redeemed them, if they were sent in. That is how it works.
In our movie ticket example the movie theatre knows that if you'll get great pricing on tickets that a good percentage of those tickets will not be redeemed and they did not lose some thing. The same would go for certificates for household goods, fuel etc.
By implementing something special with purchase item on things that your visitors need right now you are enticing the customer to try your brand, knowing that is the key first step to presenting a long term customer. You can also put a small modification on this program as well. You can have them as an motivation purchase three different products and give them a more substantial reward. It is merely another way to implement this idea into your strategy.
